What is it ?

Robinstore is an app that helps citizens save money on supermarket by comparing prices and proposing the best supermarket option for a given list. In greece, sudden price spikes started to appear for everyday goods, with many supermarket chains getting sued for taking advantage of inflation to artificially increase the prices. We created the app to solve the problem and expose the fraud behind price hikes.
The user should be able to find all the products they need, add them to their basket and the app would compare the prices among nearby supermarket and propose the 1 2 options that are cheaper.

My role & work

My role was to lead product development & design for the mobile application. I created the visual identity of the app, along with the mockup designs. I focused on designs that combine familiar features from applications of the same family of apps but also on minimal design without optical noise and multiple buttons, taking advantage of the subconscious mind that enables the exchange of buttons and clicks with swipes. The design and simulation was done in Figma, with additional tools used such as Photoshop, Illustrator for some graphical assets.
I then went on to develop the prototype using Flutter which is a cross-platform mobile framework that allowed us to implement our idea faster. I was also engaged in the development of a viable business model and core technologies such as the scraping of the prices from the supermarket websites (because nobody would let us have them otherwise lol)
I also promoted the app by going to festivals around the city, showcasing our prototype and getting feedback from ordinary people who struggled financially and were looking for solutions.
Below is part of my work regarding the prototype of the app and its branding

We went on to present our demo to a hackathon organized by Jon Vlachogiannis, an angel investor from California, in which we won the MVP award. The award granted us access to a privately held event in which investors and startups got together to discuss potential collaborations.
